Types of Art Panoramas
Loading...
Loading...
Loading...
Loading...
Loading...

Alex AG digitally modified panoramas are result of several processes applied to photographic image after creating and processing the original image. The purpose of modifying panoramas is to introduce the new point of view to the scenery and allow a viewer to reflect on the nature of reality and our perception.

COMPRESSED PANORAMAS
This type or panoramic image has a characteristic vertical vector, forming an aerial, surrealistic view. Due to the nature of human vision we see only a small portion of horizon and can notice only the details closely located to each-other. By condensing the space into concise imagery, the compressed panorama allows the completely different perception of the image, emphasizing the "bigger picture", allowing to see a composition of the object, which otherwise would be only viewed in sections.

VARIABLY COMPRESSED PANORAMAS
This is a newer addition to the artist's expressive tools. The variable panoramas are similar in their nature to evenly compressed works with the variable amount of horizontal compression applied across the image. This allow the artist to clearly emphasized the important areas and lead the eye of the viewer to the objects and other parts of the panorama, which are believed to be key points of the composition.

CIRCULAR PANORAMAS
In this type of panorama the modification consists of converting the regular (Decartian) coordinates of the image into polar coordinates, creating a completely new view on the known images and allowing to form connections and links between the objects, which are completely unrelated in the original version of the image. This type of panorama allows a view of the perspective to be modified in a way other species see the reality, for instance the insects. This method is applied to both horizontal and vertical panoramas. Pictured example is a vertical panorama converted into polar coordinates.

REFLECTED PANORAMAS
This method of modifying imagery is characterized by repeating all of part of the image in a vertical perspective. This creates the feeling of reflection of the image in the liquid and forms a completely new imagery from the well-known imagery.

DISTORTED PANORAMAS
This is the latest addition to methods of altering panoramic images Alex AG employs. This method creates images to a degree similar to compressed panoramas, but additionally distorted, creating a feeling of "liquidified" world, and thus asking a viewer to question the reality's axiomatic nature and calling for broadening the horizons of imagination.

The types of panoramas are often combined in the final output, and all are created for the goal of helping a viewer to form a better understanding of reality.
